BackA Portion of Hubble's Observation Schedule

This image shows a screen capture of one the programs that helps analyze how well Hubble's observations went. The blue outlined boxes indicate that the telescope is locking onto the guide stars that will help point it at the object to be observed. The white outlined boxes are the actual observations being taken by instruments such as ACS or FGS. (NIC, for example, is NICMOS.) Pink bars show that the target being observed has been blocked from view by Earth, and red bars indicate when Hubble's guide star tracker has been blocked by Earth. The solid blue lines show Hubble's communications with satellites.
